Yanin Chávarri Guerra, MD, MSc, of the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán, in Mexico, was the principal investigator of a study funded by a 2015 International Innovation Grant. Mexican women with breast cancer present with more advanced stages of the disease than is typical of women with breast cancer in high-resource countries. Delays in diagnosis and limited access to information are the main causes of this disparity.
