Cell function is controlled by a vast network of gene and protein interactions. The Research Chair will exploit new genome-scale technologies - in the fields of systems biology, chemical biology and synthetic biology - to understand biological networks in human health and disease. These approaches will be focused on the processes that control cell growth and division, which are universally perturbed in cancer and other disorders. Synthetic biology will be used to develop sophisticated assays to understand the multiple genetic interactions that underlie human network function and to develop novel therapeutic modulators.
