My research program evaluates how cancer treatments are used in the real world and whether the outcomes achieved are expected based on the results of clinical trials. Because patients and doctors in clinical trials might be very different from patients in routine practice, it is important to evaluate whether new treatments are being translated into improved survival and quality of life in the general population. We use large data-sets to describe cancer care for all patients in the Province of Ontario. This research provides information into how the quality of cancer care can be improved.
