Cancer is one of the most distressing diseases of our time. Over 170,000 Canadians are diagnosed with cancer each year and over 75,000 die from the disease. Over 1 million Canadians live with the effects of cancer and its treatments. The goal of my research program is to study the role of physical activity in the fight against cancer. More specifically, we are trying to find out if physical activity can help prevent some cancers, improve the quality of life of persons being treated for cancer, and even reduce the risk of recurrence and early death in cancer survivors.
